The Investment we can't afford to miss

Have you ever come across an investment that is guaranteed to never lose its value and will pay you a return twice?   As we lay the foundation to make this year more fruitful than the one before (Proverbs 9:11, TPT), we need to take advantage of God’s offer to make the one investment that He tells us will last forever and will pay a return both in this life and eternity.

God challenges us in Malachi to test him with our giving, and watch him reward us for our obedience in this life here on earth:

Malachi 3:10

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.  “Test me in this” says the Lord almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the flood gates of heaven and pour out so much blessing …..”

When Jesus talks about giving in the New Testament He also challenges us to give but with eternity in mind:

Matthew 6:19 TPT

Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves.  Material wealth eventually rusts, decays,  and loses its value. Instead stockpile heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay or lose their value.

Is it wrong to give because we are motivated by the promise of reward?  Randy Alcorn in his book “The Treasure Principle” answers this question by saying that “If it were wrong to want them, Christ wouldn’t offer rewards as motivation. Rewards are God’s idea, not ours!”

The Bible also tells us we need to give lovingly, joyfully, cheerfully, and intentionally (2 Corinthians 9:7), with love for Him and other people at the forefront of our minds (2 Corinthians 8:1-5).  However the promise of reward for faithful giving is also a reality that He tells us to look forward too.

My wife and I have seen God bless our giving in amazing ways for over 30 years now, and I am constantly reminded of his Mercy and Grace as we watch Him provide for our family and allow us to experience the joy of giving to His work.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to make the one investment that will never lose its value and will bless you both in this life and eternity!
